Build quality is outstanding

You can spend up to 10 times more and what will you get for the extra money spent? The optical clarity may be a little better but I have seen instances where it’s not as good! You could get a lighter built scope and if that’s your priority a lighter scope then okay. I don’t see any improvement on fit and finish available at almost any price! Functionality this scope is flawless! Tactile and audible turrets! Accurate and repeatable tracking, zero stop, ED glass, 1st focal plane, very usable reticle and accurate, accessories galore way above and beyond, to be honest all I believe you get for 10 times the money is bragging rights that’s you spent all that money on your optics! Great scope, great value, the best purchase I’ve made in a very long time maybe ever! Awesome deal

Design Still Needs Work - Opt for the ED GEN II 5-25x56 Instead for Now

Summary: internal lens design still needs work. The rear ocular focus was off and made the reticle blurry when you move your side focus knob about every 50-100 yards through its cycle to infinity. This also seemed to affect clarity from the center of the reticle outwards towards the edges from about 10x-20x, as the center was clear to about 1.5mil then past that it the stadia started getting fuzzy. Finally, as another reviewer mentioned, the reticle size seems to be a bit off and too small. I may have gotten a bad product (happened to me twice on the 5-25's before I got two VERY good ones), so I may re-visit this scope several months in the future and review it again. I sent this one back.Let me start off by saying I really wanted to like this scope. Fit and finish is great, comes with a bunch of accessories to get you going right in the box (covers, rings, & throw lever). I love Discovery's reticle design with the 0.2mil hash marks for holding, and their turret markings are great for staying behind the scope and glancing up to make changes quickly during a stage. Speaking of clicks, the tactile click stops on their turrets are excellent, there's no mushy feeling there at all. The zero stop takes a little understanding but once you set it once or twice when you re-zero before a match, it goes pretty quick and is a solid design. The magnification range is pretty much where I stay for most NRL22 matches and while I have two other ED GenII 5-25's I thought I would give this a shot. However, this model has two main issues and one minor. The two major concerns:1. Ocular focus strays at different magnification. I found myself adjusting ocular focu edh time I moved the side wheel focus. It was especially apparent from 50 to 100 yards, and also from about 100 to 200 yards, (from there out to infinity it stayed the same). First I though it was my eyes, but I had two other people with 20/20 look through it and they noticed the same thing. Ocular focus is set once and forget it (unless your eyes change). Moving both focus settings each time is a showstopper and a sign of a defective lens system.2. The reticle is too small to be useful down past 9x. Yes, I know First Focal Plane reticles shrink substantially, but when I compared this to my other Discovery 5-25's, Arkens, USOs, and even my S&B's it's noticeably smaller. It's almost like they took the etching from the 5-25 and just dropped it inside this tube, so it always seems just on the smaller side of what you actually need at these magnifications. The minor issue:1. The side focus knob, it just is too hard to twist. Not sure if they pack these things with heavier viscosity grease than they need or the internal mechanisms are just so close in tolerance that they don't move freely, but you have to CRANK on it and put a lot of force into it to get it to move. This is NOT something you want to have to do on a stage under time. I realize sometimes these free up a bit over time with use, but it was just too much to start off with out of the gate. It's possible I just received a defective unit as I've had similar issues with two of the early ED GENII 5-25x56's and sent them back. But until I start seeing more positive reviews of this one, excluding the reviews that seem “bot” generated like the that are blatantly generic (like one already posted for this item), it's heading back. Hopefully the folks at Discovery read these reviews and take action, as I really enjoy their products for the price point they offer against some of their competitors in this segment.Last note: while the rings that are provided are a nice touch, I rarely have used the ones supplied as they position the scope extremely high at 1.65”(!), that's almost what would be considered an extra-high height that they remind me of those cheap shoot-your-irons-under-the-scope-through-the-“window” rings you used to be able to buy at Kmart for $15 forty years ago. As a suggestion to improve this it would be better if Discovery offered a Low, Medium, High, Extra High, or even one-piece mount option choice when you purchased their optics.

Long-Range Precision: A Scope Review

The 4-20x52 scope is an excellent choice for anyone serious about long-range shooting. Its zero-stop feature, combined with an illuminated reticle, ensures accurate aiming even in low light conditions. The first focal plane design allows the reticle to scale as you zoom in, maintaining shot precision at various distances. With a 34mm tube, this scope provides a wide field of view, and its durable construction is designed to withstand recoil effectively. Overall, it is a top-tier tool for precision marksmen.

Not happy with Magnification and box missing product.

Was really looking forward to optic have seen and used there products in past. always satisfied; however this one was not good at all. Optic construction awesome, tracking awesome, but what a waste of magnification. Cant use the the reticle until t gets to like 14 before you can see it to be useful. Sad for this because they really have come a long way. Their 5x30x56 is better priced and reticle is much better through the magnification levels.
