First, a disclaimer. I am primarily an archer. I grew up with guns, but have hunted big game almost exclusively with a bow for over 40 years now. That said, I'm getting older and expect to have to return to the rifle fairly soon. I ordered this because it looked good and had some nice features. I am rather blown away by the apparent quality of this scope. It is more complicated than the scopes I used to use, and I expect to need help getting it set up. It is heavy (40 ounces without any sun shades or rings.) It comes with a set of 34mm rings that I believe are intended for use on a grooved receiver (or maybe a rail, or both?) There is also a scope leveling kit included, along with a lens dust brush, lens cleaning cloth, 3 sun shades, a booklet with a checklist of inspections performed on the scope, a spec sheet, and a pretty nice instruction book. It all arrived in a very nice and very well padded box. The glass is very clear and seems to be of good quality. I could easily read the (admittedly pretty large) lettering on the sides of trucks going over a bridge 1/2 mile from my house. The reticle will require some explanation by someone who knows more about scopes than I do (and fortunately I have many such individuals to choose from!) I looked up a Leupold scope (VX-5HD) with the same dimensions (4-20x52mm, although the model I found had "side adjustments" that may not be on this one) and it was listed at $1600 on Amazon. While I'm sure this probably doesn't match up with that, I feel confident that this is a very nice scope and at a very nice price ($241 when I ordered it.)
I like this scope. It has a ton of cool features, some of which I haven't completely figured out yet.The one thing I don't like is that it is heavy and a bit bulky. I was quite surprised by the weight. To be fair, this is a BIG scope, but the weight is something to really think about. The illuminated reticle is cool. It's only the center of the crosshairs that is illuminated so it's not too bright for your eyes in dark situations. I like this!I have another that's the same size optics, but not the same diameter tube. That may make a difference. The control knobs are massive on this thing, so maybe that adds to the weight. This is overall a very nice scope. It comes with 3 different sized sun shades, a leveling kit I'm not sure how to use yet, a set of nice looking scope rings, a cleaning tool, and a knob that screws on for the magnifier adjustment. It's going to take a while to work everything out with this, and see how it does against recoil on a large gun, but so far I'm quite happy with it.
For the price, the optic has the best glass in its class. The zero stop is very easy to use, unlike Arken's. Adjustments work great. I shot a 1/2moa group of my new upper and I was quite surprised the clarity of the scope even at highest magnification. The scope leveling kit was very handy. If you need to reduce mirage of the barrel, this scope came with 3 piece of sunshade which would help a lot. Overall great purchase.
The Optics ED 5-25x56mm Rifle Scope by Discoveryopt, is a high quality, well performing option, that offers a lot of value and extras. Here are some of the things I’ve learned while owning it and things to consider before buying.I. Quality – This is a very good quality option that I’d put on the lower side of the upper section of the quality scale. Because of its solid structure and adjustments, I’d guess it should hold up well over time.II. Performance – This has been a great performing scope that is easy to install, see, and use the illuminated reticle. It comes with a lot of very usable accessories that tries to provide the needed things for install and use. The magnify cation adjustments are also easy to use and smooth in transition.Overall, this has been a great scope that has worked wonderful and left me very happy with my choice. I have many scopes with different levels of cost and this one provides a great value proposition for what you’re getting. I’ll be sure to update this review, if I ever start to have problems. If you’d find it helpful to see a visual inspection of this product, I recommend you watch my included video in full screen or landscape. Hopefully it was helpful in your decision.
Love it! Crystal clear and an affordable price! Definitely would purchase another! Put it on a 7MM PRC and holds true. Good out to 700 yards, haven’t tried it further due to no place to shoot that far yet.
